Artist Statement
I am a painter and the title of “artist” follows.
I say this because I love paint. I love its texture, smell, the way it handles, and the ways it can be manipulated to create something we all call art.
The first thing you may notice about my work is my use of various styles and techniques. I have a difficult time settling in one particular style because I have the knowledge, interest, and education to do so much more. Over the past 12 years of serious painting, I have had the opportunity to work with a handful of really great painters, from traditional Vermont folk art painting to Dutch realism. I have also worked in the field of artist supplies for over 6 years and from this I have a broad understanding of many different materials and how to use them properly.
My belief is that a painter must have a detailed understanding of how to use a certain material before they begin to create a work of fine art. To me fine art is a pure, one of a kind, and personable. I want the viewer of my art to always remember that when looking at my work. I take time, and pride in what I do so that the person who purchases my work will have a quality, and archival treasure.
When I am not painting, working, or just busy with daily life I love to travel. Through selling my art at local art shows, farmers markets, and craft fairs I have been able to travel to 13 countries, and 28 states. Travel is an essence of life that I don’t want to live without. Over time many people have purchased my artwork and it can be found in private and public collections from Vermont to Hawaii and from Antigua to Paris. I really hope you enjoying looking at my work and that my paintings take you to places I have been, and the beautiful things I have seen.
